Sigma Alpha Stands for "Sisters in Agriculture", and our sorority is to be conducted as a Professional Agricultural Sorority. Our supportive group of women in agriculture provides our girls with the opportunity to make connections and lifelong friendships!

We strive to promote our 4 pillars

Leadership
To promote our Leadership Pillar, we offer many opportunities for our members to develop their leadership skills. Pictured above are some ladies from our chapter who attended the National Leadership Conference, where they got the chance to listen to professional speakers, make new connections, and bring ideas back to our chapter. Additionally, our First Vice President will put on professional development meetings where she will host events things like interview prep, "how to deal with stress" workshop, and many others like these so that we can keep developing our Leadership skills. Our Leadership Committee also gives out a Heart of the Bull award to an individual in the chapter who has shown exemplary leadership skills within our chapter and on campus here at SDSU. Industry tours are regularly scheduled by the Leadership Committee as well in order for us to learn more about different industries within agriculture.

Service
We love to do service projects! Pictured above are our girls at our Ditch Cleaning event. Our Philanthropy Committee and Chair come up with some great service projects for us to complete throughout the year. Every year, we do an Ag in the Classroom event where we volunteer our time and go talk to kids about agriculture! Recently, we had our Philanthropy meeting and assembled 90 feminine hygiene bags for Jacks Cupboard. It is one of our goals to complete service projects that directly affect students on campus. Additionally, we attend the Ag in the Pavilion event every year and put up a fun and educational booth and teach kids about Ag Topics! Membership candidates get to put on Philanthropy events during education as well, which is a fun opportunity for them to take control of an event that helps out our community. Service projects provide us a chance to give back to our community and leave an impact, which is so important!

Scholarship
In addition to giving out a MC Scholarship every fall, our Scholarship Committee works hard to provide us an environment to thrive academically. Throughout the year, the Scholarship Chair hosts study tables before business meetings to allow our sisters to work on homework or projects together in a calm space. At the Emerald Formal, one sister will be given the Emerald Scholar award to recognize her efforts in regularly attending study tables. Additionally, the Scholarship Committee organizes sisters to present AG Topics during every business meeting in order for us to learn more about different sectors of the agriculture industry. Pictured above is a sister giving a presentation about Aronia berries.

Sisterhood
Last, but definitely not least, we strive to promote the Sisterhood Pillar within our sorority. Our wonderful Sisterhood Chair and her committee work hard to plan fun events where we are able to bond with our sisters in agriculture. We do fun icebreakers, and meet up with other chapters, sororities, and fraternities on campus. Pictured above is our annual ice skating event with our brother chapter Alpha Gamma Rho. Sisterhood events are a fun way to meet more people and bond with the sisters within the sorority.
